Libre 3 versus Libre 3 Plus: know which model you need

Standard Libre 3 is a discontinued model. Libre 3 Plus is the current Plus option, with up to 15-day wear. Abbott requires a new prescription to transition. See Abbott's transition guidance. If buying the original Libre 3, ask about remaining stock and expiration dates.

Cash cost for the same 30-day period

• Libre 3 Plus: one sensor is $94.98. Two singles cost $189.96, while the 2-pack costs $179.99. Two sensors provide up to 30 days at full wear.
• Standard Dexcom G7: one sensor is $99.99. Three cost $299.97 for up to 30 days at full 10-day wear, excluding the grace period.

The Libre 3 Plus 2-pack costs $119.98 less than three standard G7 sensors in this example. That compares these specific Paragon listings, not clinical performance or every available package. Sensor-only totals exclude applicable tax, separately purchased devices or accessories, and extra replacements.

Standard G7 and G7 15 Day are different

Standard G7 has up to 10 days of wear plus a 12-hour grace period. G7 15 Day is a separate model with different labeling. Read Dexcom's wear-time and age guidance and check compatibility before ordering.

What to check beyond price

• Prescription: match the product to the prescribed model; cash payment does not waive prescription requirements.
• Phone, reader or receiver: check the manufacturer's current device and operating-system compatibility.
• Pump integration: confirm the exact sensor and pump combination with the relevant manufacturers and your care team.
• Supply quantity: calculate sensor count and wear time together; a subscription interval alone does not define days of supply.
