Buying CGM Multipacks: Quantity, Expiration and Reordering
By Paragon Diabetic Supply · September 27, 2026
A CGM multipack can make repeat ordering more convenient, but a larger order is only useful if it contains the right sensors and you can use them within the labeled expiration dates. Before buying FreeStyle Libre or Dexcom sensors in quantity, compare the exact model, sensor count, cost per sensor and delivery schedule.
Start with the full sensor name
FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus are different products, as are Libre 2 and Libre 2 Plus. Standard Dexcom G7 and G7 15 Day also have different labeled wear periods. Match the listing to your prescribed model and compatible equipment before comparing pack prices. A similar name or box design does not establish compatibility.
For model differences, see Libre 2 Plus vs Libre 3 Plus, Libre 2 vs Libre 2 Plus and Dexcom G7 vs G7 15 Day.
Check the sensor count, not just “monthly supply”
Package quantity and delivery frequency answer different questions. A two-pack contains two sensors; a monthly subscription describes when an order repeats. Neither phrase, by itself, establishes how long your supply will last.
- Libre 3 Plus example: Abbott labels each sensor for up to 15 days of wear. Two sensors therefore represent up to 30 days at full labeled wear.
- Standard Dexcom G7 example: three 10-day sensors represent up to 30 days, excluding the grace period from the calculation. One sensor shipped monthly is not a 30-day supply.
These examples assume full sensor wear and do not account for early replacements, startup time or a 31-day calendar month. Follow the exact product instructions rather than extending a sensor to make a shipment last. Sources: Abbott’s Libre 3 Plus information and Dexcom’s wear-time guidance.
Compare the total price per sensor
Divide the pack price by the number of sensors included. Then compare that figure with buying the same model individually under the same purchase option. Do not assume every multipack has a discount, or compare a subscription price with a one-time price without checking the terms.
For example, a hypothetical two-pack priced at $180 costs $90 per sensor. That is an arithmetic example, not a current Paragon offer. Review the actual product price, quantity, shipping and applicable tax before ordering. Our Libre cash-price guide and Dexcom G7 cost guide provide dated product-specific examples.
Ask about expiration dates before a larger order
For an order covering several sensor changes, ask about the expiration dates of the stock available for that order. Do not assume a product photo shows the date on the units you will receive. Compare the labels with your planned use dates and follow the manufacturer’s storage and expiration instructions. Buying more than you can use is not a saving.
When your order arrives, check the model, quantity and packaging against your order confirmation. Keep the package and order details if you need help resolving a discrepancy. Contact the seller before opening an item you believe is incorrect, and review the store’s return policy before making a large purchase.
Review subscriptions as a separate decision
Before selecting recurring delivery, check the quantity per shipment, billing interval, shipping interval, recurring price and the displayed cancellation or modification terms. Confirm how changes must be made before the next order processes. A subscription can simplify ordering, but its schedule should match your actual supply needs.
